Plexus contributed to the International Energy Agency’s 2014 World Energy Outlook (WEO). To this end Plexus prepared a chapter on public acceptance of nuclear energy. The chapter reviewed the evolution of public concerns related to nuclear energy in OECD and emerging jurisdictions and focused in particular on the role of public consultation and public awareness regarding nuclear power construction projects.
The chapter traced the role of public acceptance throughout the lifecycle of nuclear power, from the front-end nuclear fuel cycle through to decommissioning. It also addressed the role of risk, perception and public opinion in relation to nuclear power more generally. In addition, Plexus peer reviewed the WEO and advised on public consultation in energy policy planning, including in relation to nuclear energy.
